As part of the Energy from Waste - 4-5 March 2026, EFW Conference, in London, UK, W2RO CEO Ashley De Souza was able to take part in a tour of the newly built Indaver Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility in Essex.
The Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) has an annual processing capacity of 595,000 tonnes. The Rivenhall IWMF treats residual waste from local authorities, as well as commercial and industrial residual waste from the private waste sector.
The facility includes technology to turn waste to electricity - over 50% of which is renewable.
The Rivenhall Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) will contribute to the following Government policy targets:
• Renewable energy and net-zero carbon targets: the IWMF will export 50% of renewable energy to the local distribution network.
• Circular economy targets: the facility will divert waste from landfill and from export abroad, reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions and recovering metals and ash.
A special thanks to John Ahearn, Seamus Flynn, Micheal Geary, and the entire Indaver Team
