W2RO Emerging Leader Limelight: Matthew Stevens, Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Team Lead

MEET MATT STEVENS
Matt Stevens serves as the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Team Lead at the Region of Peel, a dynamic municipal government organization responsible for providing essential services to over 1.5 million residents across Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon. In his role, Matt oversees the operations of the HHW depot, ensuring the safe and efficient collection, recycling, and disposal of hazardous materials
Beyond his work at the Region, Matt is actively involved in several key industry associations, including the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association (NAHMMA) and the Municipal Waste Association (MWA). He has supported Waste to Resource Ontario (W2RO) by delivering HHW training seminars and is a contributing member of the Lithium-Ion Battery Working Group, promoting safe handling practices for emerging waste streams.
